The recording system
The Salis’ sphere

In order to achieve the full realization of AVS philosophy, a deep innovation was required not only in the "way" to reproduce music, but in sound recording techniques as well. In fact. when reproducing even the best conventional recordings, the feeling of a difference between the reproduced sound and the one we normally hear as a "real" sound (the sound of the world/environment around us) is still there: the cause is the lack. in conventional recordings, of important micro-information and of "phantom information" related to perspective gradients and to depth kinetic effect. All this additional sound information is recorded by AVS system.
Furthermore, conventional recordings do not generally respect the most strict quality standards and the mastering signal transfer processes provided by AVS to maintain information unaltered. The recording system has been for the moment realized to record sounds in any real environment (it uses therefore AVS modified Schoeps microphonic transducers, two FM Acoustics mic. preamp. Class Amp or Millenia H3V High Voltage, as well as mechanic and electronic devices and positioning precautions). It allows all the sound information to be stored in only two channels: in this way all the AVS recordings can be commercialized on any stereophonic media (CD, SACD, LP, DAT, DVD. etc...) and are 100% compatible with any stereophonic equipment. > Downloads

In comparison with conventional recordings (realized with two or more microphones) the listening differences, using a good stereophonic reproducing system, are:

a soundstage extended as far as the listening position and "opened" in a half- circle of 180° in frontof the listener (in best cases even slightly behind him);
 greater airy sensation of the sound field;
 clear increase of micro-information without any dynamic compression;
 sharp increase of dynamic contrasts, identical to the real event;
 maximum tone realism of all the instruments, at any sound pressure level (this is particularly noticed with lyrical voices, that in the "forte" dynamics are in no way hardened in the recording);
 total low frequencies control (absence of resonances, distortions and bulges);
 sensation of more general realism of the reproduction, quite independently of the reproducing system frequency response;
 less general distortion, that is by the way showed by a sensation of well-being and relaxation even when listening at highest levels of sound pressure.

These differences, always audible in comparison with conventional recordings, are more or less evident dependently on how the reproducing system approaches the provided standards (AVS - Andrea von Salis Certification Standards) for the reproduction of these effects.

Soundstage created by systems complying with AVs standard’s technical specifications, stereo version.
The theoretical soundstage is developed as far as the listening position and “opened” 180° in front of the listener with AVS recordings.
